Braided Capelet

Picture
This design has been accepted for publication!  My first publication! I'm wiggly excited.

I originally proposed the stole as the Eve Stole (the pun in the name apealed to me) to Interweave Knits Fall 2011.  It was accepted, but for the premier issue of a new Interweave publicaiton, Knit.Wear.  You'll find it on newstands and at your local yarn shop and digital and print versions in the Interweave store, it's a great pattern and accompanied by a really nice tutorial on grafting!

Peplum and Pleats

Picture
This fitted jacket was published in Winter 2011 Interweave Knits. A clever pairing of yarn and needle size produces a gauge which allows for a tailored fit. The Peplum and Pleat Jacket gets better the closer you look at it. Contrast-color panels peek from between the pleats (created with intarsia knitting as you work the peplum). Crocheted custom buttons give a couture, perfectly matched look. Integrated facings support and strengthen the front edges. Buttonholes are reinforced with hand embroidery. And attached I-cord trim snakes its way around the collar nd cuffs of the jacket, adding a sharp, cleanly tailored touch.

Knotty Beret

Picture
The Knotty Beret was a challenging knit to design.  The picture at right shows a few of the dead ends before the concept finally translated to yarn. It's is an eternal knot created out of cables, winding over and under each other to form a lovely celtic knot pattern.

The geometry for this pattern was challenging! I was in completely uncharted territory; pun fully intended. There are lots of good examples of 6, 8 and 10 sided tams and berets, but the 5 sided geometry required for a pentagonal celtic knot required me to work out the angle of decrease (72 degrees), the stitch gauge and to figure how many decreases per round to get the right slope, not to mention working all of the twistings and turnings and crossings of the knot within this framework.

It took more than one swatch to get this to work, but what a feeling of accomplishment when it all came together!  It's been published in the January issue of Knit!, a UK knitting magazine.

Cobble Hill Pullover

Picture
The Cobble Hill Pullover is a new pattern in Interweave Spring 2012! What a beautiful magazine filled with lovely knits. It's truly an honor to be included in the collection.

The sweater is a convertible pullover and can be worn with the slouchy shawl collar or turn it around and wear it as a V-neck! I'm really excited about this pattern, and may need to knit one for me! I love it.

Woven Cowl

Picture
The power of a small knit is definitely evident in this I-cord accessory. A few dozen yards of i-cord are created from a bulky yarn and then woven into a cozy cowl that also serves well as a head wrap to keep your ears warm!  The pattern is found in Knitter's Magazine Winter 2011-2012.

Hourglass Wrap

Picture
The Hourglass Wrap in Knitter's Magazine Winter 2011-12 is a fantastic quick-to-make accessory. It has an hourglass shape that can be worn doubled over for extra warmth, as a hood to block the wind, draped around your neck or as an asymmetrical wrap! Versatile!
